Hawaiian Club Sandwich

Hawaiian Club Sandwich

With sweet pineapple, cream cheese and a scattering of fresh basil tucked between toasted bread, this Hawaiian Club Sandwich is a fun, tropical twist on a lunchtime classic. Children practise spreading soft ingredients, smoothing cream cheese and ketchup neatly over their toast before layering everything up and slicing it on the diagonal. It's also a natural way into food labels, exploring how the information on a packet helps us understand what's inside and make choices that are right for us.

  • Scatter the basil leaves over the cheese and lay the sliced ham on top.
  • Place the last piece of toast ketchup side down on top to finish the sandwich.
  • Put a cocktail stick in opposite corners and carefully cut the sandwich in half on the diagonal.
